Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker has been banned for three domestic matches.
Mertesacker was sent off in the thrilling 5-4 Bundesliga win over promoted Hoffenheim at the weekend.
The Germany international was shown a straight red after he fouled Vedad Ibisevic in the 62nd minute.
The FA's disciplinary committee ruled that Mertesacker was guilty of "unsporting behaviour".
Bochum's Anthar Yahia has also been banned for two games for his red card in their 3-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.
