Champions League - Mascherano and Babel play

Eurosport - Wed, 01 Oct 18:51:00 2008

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will hand Dutch winger Ryan Babel a star role in the Champions League Group D clash with PSV Eindhoven, while Javier Mascherano returns from injury.

FOOTBALL Liverpool Babel Mascherano - 0

Before he joined Liverpool, Babel played for PSV's sworn enemies Ajax, and Benitez is set to use him against his former foes.

"Our view of Ryan is a player who starts games and has an impact from the beginning, not just as a sub," Benitez told the club website. "But first of all he has to improve tactically and we are working with him on that."

Liverpool should have midfielders Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun available after they missed the 2-0 derby win over Everton because of minor injuries but have been included in the squad.

Atletico Madrid v Marseille

Atletico are hopeful that both Netherlands defender John Heitinga and Portugal midfielder Maniche will be fit after missing the 1-0 defeat to Sevilla. Uruguay striker Diego Forlan is out injured, so the in-form Florent Sinama-Pongolle is set to continue alongside Sergio Aguero.

Marseille's Ivory Coast striker Bakary Kone is 50-50 after a leg muscle injury.

You are either blind or ignorant, I'm not saying Reina is the best keeper in the world, that's most probably Casillas, but it's a great argument that he's the best keeper in the prem. Most cleen sheets than any keeper in the prem three years running, that's some evidence isn't it? Now give me your evidence, what makes you right and me wrong?

The best penalty saver in the country too.
Alonso is a good player,im glad he stayed,he's dependable.
And tonight we showed we have class all over the field.
Now keane's off the mark look out

  4. Just a little reply about Reina.I would argue all night with u about the best goalkeeper around and it certainly isnt Reina.Hes just in a long line of poor keepers that liverpool have had all the way back to Grobalaar.Come back when you,ve won the league, which wont be this season. As for Alonso i would have walked him to Juventus in the summer. These are not facts just opinions...!

  6. Just want to say that forget what Keane has done with all his other clubs, what matters is what he does NOW, to justify the 20 million pound price-tag, coz right now the rate he's goin he has been as successful as Morientes was when HE was at liverpool! They might as well have brought him back than getting keane....At the moment he ain't lookin like liverpool's version of Batistuta!

  10. robbie keane overated? he was scoring goals for spurs long before berbatov came on the scene.and at a time when monkey face martin jol was treating him with contempt over a miss firing jermain defoe.he showed loyalty to the spurs fans by sticking it out.a dream move to the club he supported, and he took it,in this day n age is 20 mill overated.if you ask me 30 mill for a player who had 1 good season at spurs is risky, berbatov scored 2 goals against a poor side,so big deal, kean has scored goals against most of the top prem clubs season in season out.
id deffinately say he will get min,15 goals in his first season, but you will have to tott up all the assists he makes to torres,he's our new dalglish,go keane show these doubters what ya made of
