The 32-year-old, who has yet to make his debut for the Bantams since his summer switch from Huddersfield, has undergone corrective ankle surgery and faces around 12 weeks on the sidelines.

Manager Stuart McCall insisted the club had to put Brandon under the knife, after his ankle had failed to respond to a recent injection.

McCall told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus: "The first course of action was to give the ankle time to settle and then we isolated the pain and injected that area. But that didn't have a great benefit so we had to go for the worst-case scenario and have the operation to clear everything out."

Brandon admitted: "I didn't want to have the op but it's for the best. I've got my head round it now.

"I couldn't fool myself that everything was fine when it clearly wasn't. Of course it's a massive frustration but it's one of those things and I hope to be back in time to still have a real part to play this season."
