Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has rubbished speculation he is considering a January move for Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.
The former Birmingham star has struggled to make an impact at Anfield since arriving for £6.7 million in 2006 and he has fallen out of favour this season.
Pennant made a late substitute appearance in last weekend's Merseyside derby victory over Everton, but his only previous outing this term was in the Carling Cup against Crewe earlier in September.
A lack of first-team football has seen Pennant linked with Portsmouth, who have been rumoured to be keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.
But Redknapp insists that he has not yet considered transfer targets, telling The News: "I like Pennant. He's a good player, a great crosser of the ball and he's definitely got quality.
"But I can't say I have thought about signing him. In fact, I have not thought about anybody really, to be honest.
"The transfer window has just closed and the next one isn't open until January, other signings are not really in my thoughts this early.
"As far as I'm concerned, I have got my squad here, players I'm happy with.
"I just need to get on with it now. It's like any transfer, I'll see how we are going closer to the time and if we need something.
"You never know, you may get an injury in a certain position, something might need freshening up.
"I've got to see if everything is going okay. If everybody is doing well it's not a problem and I won't need to bring in anyone at all.
"But at the moment I'm not even thinking about that."

Kuyt has force and more dangerous than Pennant.
Redknapp stop the talking, do the buy of Pennant. He will give you class on the wide.
hello
keep pennant & play him
pennant better than kuyt!! dream on. Pennant has had chances at many clubs and hasnt delivered. plus he is an eggy git and should be shipped out of glorious anfield asap. he belongs to the bellamy clan of doggers and roasters and should be allowed to taint lfc with his antics.
ive been saying for ages that pennant shuld be playing every game as hes far better than kuyt and gives Liverpool the width that they desperately need. at the mo they're playing narrow poor football and somehow grinding out results. spose now crouch has gone hes not gna get any football. hope he joins blackburn as he would replace bentley well and would compliment santa. blackburn fan.
probably no brown envelope in it for him. redknapp should have been kicked out of football years ago the crooked little dog.
dunno clive, beats me.why the hell did we buy a winger if we aint gonna use him,i hope he comes on start of the second half.give the game a fresh perspective for 45 mins
I agree Roland, and not just for the 'crazy afro action'. I can see it know, Johnson storms up the right, cuts inside, takes a couple of the opposing mid field and defenders with with him, Pennant charging down the wing into the space, Johnson deftly flicks the ball to Pennant, Pennant crosses, then OH @#$%! Crouchy boy either gets tangled up in his legs or is penalised for having the audacity to be taller than anyone else!!
I'm a liverpool fan, and I want Pennant to atcually play for us! Kuyt is a striker through and through, and although he plays hes possible best and works his socks off every game, Pennant is a natural right sided midfielder, and he's fast!
Why aren't we playing Pennant on the right in the starting team?
YNWA
imagine pennant on the right with glen johnson behind him. some crazy afro action there.
