Germany's Christian Vietoris of the DAMS team won the GP2 Asia series sprint race at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi after leading from start to finish in just his second race in the series.
Saturday's feature race winner Davide Valsecchi (iSport International) produced a blistering performance to pull himself up from eighth on the grid to finish second in the race.
Vietoris made a blistering start from third on the grid to take the lead at the first corner, with pole-sitter Oliver Turvey getting off to a terrible start as he dropped three places.
The only hiccup in DAMS driver Vietoris's race came when the safety car was called out following a collision between William Bratt and Fabio Leimer, allowing the field to catch up with him and Josef Kral who was running second at the time.
While Vietoris managed to pull away again Kral was caught up by the series-leader Valsecchi, and though the Super Nova driver held his opponent off for a while he was eventually passed on the final lap of the race to concede second place.
