Serie A - Napoli stage stunning comeback

Napoli staged a stunning recovery to claw back a two-goal deficit and beat Juventus 3-2 in their Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico.

David Trezeguet gave Ciro Ferrara's side a 35th-minute lead with an emphatic headed goal before some hapless defending from the visitors gifted Sebastian Giovinco a second after half-time.

Marek Hamsik (pictured) drilled his shot in the 58th minute high into the roof of the net to reduce the arrears before substitute Jesus Datolo drew the visitors level six minutes later.

Hamsik then finished with aplomb from the edge of the Juventus penalty area in the 81st minute to beat Buffon for a second time and clinch a superb victory for his side.

Substitute Amauri was shown a straight red in second-half stoppage time for what looked to be a petulant kick at the floored Napoli goalkeeper Morgan de Sanctis, but it had little bearing on the match.

Ezequiel Lavezzi headed narrowly wide from Hamsik's cross out on the right in the 17th minute as Napoli enjoyed a rare first-half attack on the counter-attack.

At the other end, Mauro Camoranesi dinked in a precise delivery which Giovinco glanced wide of the far post five minutes later.

Another glorious chance was then wasted by Napoli as German Denis headed wide from Luca Cigarini's delivery as the striker should have hit the target with the goal gaping at his mercy.

But Trezeguet broke the deadlock with 10 minutes left in the first half as the striker stole in front of his marker to power his header home from Giovinco's cross.

A superb tackle from Hugo Campagnaro denied Trezeguet a second as he threatened to fly through on goal unopposed at the start of the second half.

Matteo Contini inexplicably gifted the ball to Giovinco in the 55th minute, who was able to coolly tuck the ball away from close range to punish the defender's sloppy play.

But complacency appeared to set in for Juventus as Hamsik finished hammered the ball into the top corner from Walter Gargano's pass across the face of the box.

The shell-shocked hosts then conceded a second as Napoli restored parity through Datolo, who had been on the field all but five minutes before he bundled the ball home after Denis's initial header was parried away by Gianluigi Buffon.

The recovery was complete when Tiago failed to clear the ball on the edge of the penalty area and Hamsik was able to sweep the ball clinically into the far corner of the net for the visitors' third.

Amauri's reckless kick at De Sanctis in stoppage time only served to compound Juventus' frustration after a fruitless evening having squandered a two-goal lead.

Elsewhere, Milan were the epitome of efficiency as they overcame Parma 2-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with Marco Borriello netting a brace.

Ronaldinho jinked his way down the left to the byline before laying the ball off for the striker who simply tucked the ball under the diving Antonio Mirante in the Parma goal in the 12th minute.

Leonardo had Dida to thank second earlier when the goalkeeper tipped Blerim Dzemalli's fierce drive onto the crossbar, then in the 23rd minute palmed Valeri Bojinov's close-range header away for a corner.

Pato had numerous opportunities to extend Milan's lead but contrived to miss a free header from 12 yards out before going down in the Parma box with a shooting opportunity available to him late in the second half.

Leonardo and his opposite number Francesco Guidolin used their full allocation of substitutions as the second half petered out poorly until Borriello found an acrobatic finish to seal victory for the hosts in stoppage time.

First Thiago Silva surged into the Parma box to meet Borriello's pinpoint cross but saw his powerful header ricochet off the bar, then the striker was supplied a perfect delivery from Ronaldinho which he dispatched into the bottom corner to secure the points.
