Coyle hails "bargain" Mears

Burnley manager Owen Coyle took the opportunity to single out Tyrone Mears for special praise after he turned in yet another impressive display at right-back in the 2-0 win over Hull.

Mears was an impressive performer at Turf Moor, despite Graham Alexander hogging the headlines with his brace.

"Tyrone has been outstanding for me since day one," Coyle said. "For me he was a bargain at just £400,000.

"Normally you don't get ready made players, in the Premier League you have to go and spend six or seven million.

"But Tyrone Mears looks like he's been playing Premier League football for all his years.

"He has to keep playing like this week in week out because when you set a standard you don't want to fall below it. At the moment he is playing very well."

  1. i was at the game and have to say i dont think he was all that. yes hes been fantastic this season. but on saturday he was average, and he couldnt put a single decent ball into the box. he put in about 3/4 crosses that went right over the goal and out for a corner. but a great win the we definitely deserved. we totally outplayed hull and they look like a poor side on that performance.
