Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has described Robin van Persie as a mixture of club legends Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
Van Persie's double at the Emirates Stadium against rivals Tottenham means the Dutchman has seven goals from as many games, with the 26-year-old adapting quickly to his role at the top of Wenger's new 4-3-3 formation.
After Bergkamp's retirement three years ago and Henry's departure to Barcelona, Van Persie is the latest forward Gunners fans rely on for their attacking spark.
Wenger, when asked about Van Persie stepping into the boots of his predecessors, said: "He is a mixture. He is less of a runner than Thierry Henry and he is not completely Dennis Bergkamp because he plays higher up the pitch.
"He is the kind of player, with the type of game we play, who is vital because when you play the ball to his feet his first touch is always perfect and that allows others to join in. It makes everybody dangerous. In the box he is clever and intelligent."

What? Young mister van Persie 26 already? Ahh.. dont these kids just grow up before you know it. He is a fine player though, Robin is.
This is a formation of team that has been slowly been built upon as the right type of players have joined the first team. The youth and reserve teams play the same fast paced passing game. Thats one of the reasons why the reserves have fit in so well.
.
As for Arry saying the other north London team being better ? He must be related to the fat waiter who says Liverfool will be second this year.
Having one up front with RvP as the man is only going to be ok if the team plays forward. You cant have 1 up front if there is no support. With the players they have and the others waiting in the wings this shouldnt be a problem. With a greater number of midfielders you will get a bigger number of midfield injuries - at the moment they are there and more to replace in the reserves so you get rotation. And the added bonus is they are all proven goal scorers.
I thin RVP is a good player and has got brillant abilty but i'm sorry but in a few years time i could understand but not this early It's a big call to say that on the other hand Wenger should sell bendtner for the highest price he can get (which is about £5) he is terrible to big headed cocky ah if Fans had the choice of who played each weak Bendtner would not even come on as a sub in any league game.
I think Roisky is a sick player He has been out through injury for over a year longer than eduardo and he has done brillantly on his return he scored against man city and more so i think you can not really slag him off because it seems to me that he is a FANTASTIC PLAYER
Comparing to bendtner, RvP is simply GOD!!!
word mr wenger!!!!
Robin is a class act, this season is shaping up rather nicely.
Van persie is a great player, i love him,and thump him up for more .
No 1; He is a mixture because of Henry he can score fantastic goals and if he has an injury free season I can see him bagging alot. He is also like Bergkamp because he is brilliant at creating chances; the way he plays at the top of the "trident" he can drop down into the hole for people like Arshavin to fill the void. He is a very technical player and I doubt anyone in the league is as good as him technically.
Finally don't dis-believe in the prof!
(:
Is Van Persie a good player?
Yes(thumbs up)
No(thumbs down)
Wenger can make the similarities from watching him everyday. I think he is a different striker , first he is left footed and just start trusting his right boots with a few more goals off it. due to injuries for the pass few seasons we have not seen the best of him and i think there is a lot stil to come, we saw great plays and some good goals from him last season, this seson if he can stays injury free and bag 25+ goal then we might be able to start seeing similarities.
With Thierry's game based on pace and outstanding finishing, and with Bergkamps based on playing deep, assisting and legendary finishing ..... what part of their game is shared by Robin? I completely fail to see it. Yeah, he has occasionally produced some spectacular finishing .... but nowhere near as frequently as Thierry and Dennis did at Robin's age.
At Robin's age, Dennis and Thierry didn't have the luxury of chances being put on a plate by players of the calibre of Rosicky, Arshavin and Fabregas and so many other technically proficient providers. Therefore Thierry and Dennis worked much, much more harder.
I like Robin alot, but I feel Eduardo is likelier to score more goals than him.
Perhaps someone can point out to me the similarities of Robin, Dennis and Thierry.
