The OMV Kronos Citroën World Rally Team did not encounter any noteworthy problems on day two of Wales Rally GB. Unfortunately they didn't move up, either. Stobart Ford's Matthew Wilson seems out of reach and Subaru's Xavier Pons, in ninth place, can be easily kept at bay.
OMV driver Manfred Stohl is nevertheless discontent even if everything points to a fifth consecutive finish within points-range.
Stohl makes the most of his current situation at the Wales Rally GB. The 35-year-old OMV driver completed the seven special stages on Saturday without taking any risk or encountering problems. In the end there isn't more to win than eighth place at the finale of the FIA World Rally Championship.
"It is a bit frustrating since last year we fought for victory. This year we're competing for eighth place. Somehow I expected more," said the Austrian. "But that probably was wishful thinking. If one takes a look at our results this season then we are right at where we were at during the last fifteen rallies."
Still, if they cross the finish line within the top eight, the OMV pair of Stohl/Minor will score points at the Wales Rally GB for the fifth time in a row. That would at least be some consolation.
The final leg of the Wales Rally GB on Sunday leads over four special stages and 114.26 kilometres. Thereby two turns with two special stages each, meaning 57.13 kilometres, will be completed.
The restart will take place at 6:25 (local time) in Swansea. The finish line will be crossed at 15:10 in Cathays Park in Cardiff.
