Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey expects the club to financially back manager Mick McCarthy in the January transfer window.
McCarthy, who took over at Molineux in 2006, has led his charges to the Championship summit after an excellent start to the season.
The former Sunderland boss could look to bolster his ranks in the New Year and Moxey is sure owner Steve Morgan will provide him with funds to spend.
Moxey said in the Daily Mirror: "Under Steve Morgan the watchword has been prudence and we don't intend to be changing that approach.
"But we are in a strong position to gain Premier League status and if the manager comes to us before the transfer window and expresses an interest in players, we will listen.
"I am sure the chairman and board will do everything to back Mick without being stupid about it."
