Needless to say Alex Ferguson and Mark Hughes did not have the same interpretation of Cristiano Ronaldo's red card in the Manchester derby.
Manchester City 0-1 Manchester United
Alex Ferguson: "He (Cristiano Ronaldo) was trying to protect himself from the ball hitting him in the face. He thought he had heard a whistle, he got a little push as well and it is not as if he punched the ball. If that had been outside the box it would have been a free-kick and nothing else. But the crowd played a part and he got sent off. Sometimes you have to overcome these things and we overcame a lot."
Mark Hughes: "I don't think the referee had any choice. I don't know what reason he will give for doing it but if he says the ball was going to hit him in the face why didn't he head it? It is a soft sending-off but it was a second bookable offence and he had to go...It was a difficult game for Robinho but we wanted him on because he has been our talisman."
Chelsea 1-2 Arsenal
Luiz Felipe Scolari: "Have you ever heard me speak about referees any time in the games I have been here? Never! In 15 games in the Premier League, four in the Champions League, the Carling Cup, I have not said anything, but today is different. I do not want the referee to make something different - I want him to look at the television, and see that the referee and the linesman see they are wrong, and for them to say 'sorry'."
Arsene Wenger: "It gives us the belief we can come back, but what kind of impact it will have on Chelsea, I do not know. It was a massive win for us. To lose would have put us 13 points away and that would have been too much. It was a test of character and we came here with perhaps not the needed level of confidence - but we have shown that we have character."
Tottenham 0-1 Everton
David Moyes: "I'm really fortunate to be given 300 games as a manager. A lot of managers don't get given time these days. I hope I get another 300 and hope the good times are still to come. I'm not going to overtake Sir Alex Ferguson if he goes on but this is a big honour.[Yakubu's injury is] a massive blow for us. His record in the Premier League is around 18 goals a season and to replace that is very difficult. I have Victor Anichebe and one or two other kids."
Harry Redknapp: "They are a difficult team to play against. We gave a terrible goal away - we switched off at the free-kick and they are very difficult to beat when they have their noses in front. We turned our back on the ball, they play a short one and it's in the back of the net with half of us not looking at the ball. It cost us the game. We've had a fantastic run, without that we would be in big trouble. We've now got West Ham and then Manchester United in the league next and they are two very tough games."
Portsmouth 3-2 Blackburn Rovers
Tony Adams: We've still got some defensive things to work on. We're going through a little phase of surrendering things. This time we knocked off from a throw-in. But at least we had the spirit to come back and win it - and on this occasion, a bit more time. I'm delighted with them again. It's a relief to get the win. We were not very good in the first half. You can hear from my voice that I had to get into the guys a bit at half-time."
Paul Ince: It was a poor decision from the referee [to disallow our third goal]. He gave the foul on James but you see on the replay that he hasn;t touched him and it should have been 3-2. They are the things that happen when you are down there. That is the sort of stuff we have to contend with at this moment in time, but we'll keep marching."

well.........
man u's goal shouldn't of counted on sunday park hand balled it before it was put in the goal look at the replay when he bends over.
im a man u fan.....n i guess its quite fare to show ronaldo red card after handling the ball, wtf r u doing ronaldo? come on.....be focused
Did Lin H watch the match. That was his second booking.
Has anyone ever read the rules of the game? Law 12 states that a caution (Card) has to issued if "handles the ball to prevent an opponent gaining possession or
developing an attack (other than the goalkeeper within his own
penalty area)
OR handles the ball in an attempt to score a goal (irrespective of
whether or not the attempt is successful)". Ronaldo got in front of an opponent and used his hands + he was going for goal. Both cases prove he deserved to walk. If the ball would have ended in the net and the ref never saw it, would 1. he have admintted to the ref and 2. a public outcry like Maradona in Mexico.
Ancolink, speak English you kn*b.
Taff, you're a complete tw*t.
If punching the ball is d only way for ronaldo to stop d ball from hittin is adams apple,i bet he would be very good at handball.
I love leverpool so much but i pity them this time coz an unbelieveable thing is about to happen to them very soon i mean West ham will transh Leverpool today the scores are leverpool 0 West Ham 2 sorry Leverpool just take heart up gunnerrrrssssssssss 4 live
For all you who said it was an air horn, if you listen carfully (MOD2 last night), you'll hear a whistle being blown straight after the horn. At the end of the day he should of just headed it into the goal and made it 2-0 to compound @#$%ys misery.
Hey guys and gals after all this is only a game with a ref who can make mistakes. Time and time again I suggest the video playback. Did you see that 18 stone Aussie argue with the ref on Saturday in Cardiff. No way, he went to the sin bin and took it which is what should happen also in football. Ronnie the winker thinks he is above the game and should go to Madrid soon. It was not a sending off offence but he is hearing voices and bells in his head now and perhaps he needs time off for some treatment. Fergie needs some counselling as well. By the way I am not a fan of anyone I like football on the TV but it sometimes gets out of hand
is wayne rooney oscars double ya know the dirty smelly muppert out of the trash can in sesame street..
by by you wont see me on this @#$% site again
MU is great. Fendimart91 is @#$%^&. Lu mak puki.
the only person that needs a braincell or 2 is ronaldo what was is thinking
all ronaldo was trying 2 do was stop the ball hittin his adams apple..
has sap got a brain cell? can't he guess what team i support? he seems to think he's gods gift to brains....oh and by the way, i'm firing on all cylinders thanks...you state your facts, i just put my opinion but ti seems that no one is allowed an opinion on here withouth you moaning about it....looking through all the postings and they're nearly all from you moaning...well keep up the good work....RED TILL I'M DEAD!!!!
If he follows the same relgious belifes as Maradona,Ha Ha! Could he then use the excuse it was the hand of god..... About time he realises that he is not above the law, in fact it is about time he went to Real Madrid along with all the Pre-Madonas and give British football back to the real players. He is a cheat and all the honours that the football world bestow upon him, only brings the game down and says to all other would be's that cheating, moaning and whining does pay!
LIN H, Of course the red card was justified, he was booked earlier and a 2nd booking constitutes the red......or didn't you know that?
Ronaldo should have just put the ball in the back of the net and asked questions later.
By handling the ball he gave the ref no choice, having said the first yellow card he was given was never a card and just a free kick.
