Bond upset by late Seagulls strike

Wed 02 Jan, 03:15 PM

Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond is pledging to work his players extra hard after they threw away a priceless away point at Brighton.Substitute Brett Pitman looked to have ended a run of four successive away defeats for Bournemouth when he made it 2-2 with 11 minutes left from close range.

But Alex Revell had the last word deep into stoppage time when he headed in a Dean Cox corner at the near post to complete his first hat-trick for the Seagulls.

Bond said: "We thoroughly deserved at least a point from the game but we brought about our own downfall.

"It was nothing short of disgraceful. The players didn't concentrate until the last and the winner came from a free header at the near post.

"We had had a decent Christmas period up to this game but I want them to dwell on this as I don't want it to happen again. That last goal will stay with me for an awful long time."
