Southampton boss George Burley is holding talks with Tottenham and Reading with a view to extending the loans of Phil Ifil and Alan Bennett.Full-back Ifil has returned to Spurs following the end of his stint on the South coast, while centre-half Bennett will be due back at the Madejski Stadium later this month.

"Phil did very well and we have spoken to Tottenham but not yet agreed anything," said Burley.

"I have spoken to Steve Coppell about Alan Bennett and would like to keep him if we can, and we are hopeful of doing something.

"Then it will be a case of sitting down with the chairman and (chief executive) Lee Hoos and seeing what can be done. I would like to bring in some new faces if we can."
