Blackpool manager Simon Grayson believes the 3-0 victory at home to Lancashire rivals Burnley on Tuesday rounded off a "fantastic period".Kaspar Gorkss, Ben Burgess and Claus Jorgensen scored to earn Blackpool their third win in four and a first victory over the Clarets since April 1998.
Blackpool have now claimed 10 points from a possible 12 over the festive period - with seven unanswered goals in two games at Bloomfield Road - all since Grayson committed his future, signing a contract extension with the club until 2010.
The Seasiders manager said: "It has been a great day for the club - well it has been a very good Christmas period for us.
"I just think the performance today rounded of what has been a demanding but fantastic period for us."
Latvian defender Gorkss' firm header - his second goal in two home games - earned the Seasiders a half-time lead before Burgess and Jorgensen scored in quick succession.
Striker Burgess converted Jorgensen's cross with a well-placed header after 58 minutes before the midfielder netted a sublime half-volley from outside the box.
"We tried to make sure that we set a good tempo and put the opposition on the backfoot and we certainly did.
"Right the way through the team, everybody put in a performance - the back four were immense, they headed and challenged, the strikers worked their socks off and the players were still running and challenging in injury time which says a lot for the desire and the character."
Grayson has quick to praise his defensive unit after a third clean sheet in four matches.
"They don't want to get sloppy, they don't want to concede goals - they take great satisfaction in clean sheets and that's encouraging," added Grayson.
"It's about people working hard, putting their bodies on the line, putting their heads in where the boots are.
"Clean sheets win games as long you score goals at the other end."
The result ended Burnley's formidable record away from Turf Moor since Owen Coyle was installed as boss in late November.
They had won three and drawn one of the previous four games on the road but looked devoid of options in attack and struggled in defence ahead of the FA Cup third-round tie with Arsenal.
Coyle described himself as "deeply hurt" by Burnley's performance.
He said: "I don't think it comes more disappointing than that. From start to finish we never coped with their strikers and they were cheap, cheap goals we lost.
"The second goal was always going to be important and looking back, I think it was Blackpool's first venture into our half, and it was a poor goal to concede.
"We did have chances second half, but it was nowhere near the standard we're looking for.
"There were far too many people not anywhere near the individual standard and certainly the collective standard we're looking for at this football club.
"Disappointing doesn't sum it up. There's ways of getting beat and that certainly wasn't one of them.
"I'm deeply hurt by that and I feel that I should be. I expect a lot better."
Burnley face Arsenal next in the FA Cup third round, but Coyle said: "That's the furthest thing from my mind, having just watched that.
"It's beyond belief - I never saw that performance coming."
