Moore blasts 'sloppy' Rovers

Wed 02 Jan, 12:30 PM

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore blasted his "sloppy" side after their 4-3 defeat at Gresty Road against League One rivals Crewe.Rovers took the lead in an astonishing game through Andrew Taylor before Gary Roberts netted the first of his brace from the penalty spot.

Chris Greenacre restored Tranmere's lead but Crewe hit back through Roberts again and Nicky Maynard.

Paul McLaren restored parity before Danny O'Donnell's last-gasp header settled matters, while Tranmere also had Ian Goodison sent off in the 64th minute.

Moore said: "We've thrown three points away. It's astounding we've thrown three goals away from set plays. We've got big, strong, able defenders but we never won a header in our box.

"How we have lost the game is beyond me. We had chances when we were down to 10 men and we had fantastic support. We got sloppy and we just couldn't cope with corners and if you can't cope with a simple ball into the box at this level then you are going to struggle."
