Williamson rues Blues absentees

Wed 02 Jan, 12:30 PM

Chester boss Bobby Williamson believes a lack of bodies at the Deva Stadium has contributed to his side's poor run over Christmas. The Blues have lost three straight games over the festive period to Morecambe and strugglers Brentford and Grimsby to dent their promotion hopes.

The latest defeat came on New Year's Day, with Alan Buckley's Mariners running out 2-0 winners at the Deva.

"It's disappointing to lose three games at this time of the season," he said.

"We had players injured and a player suspended and that's had an effect on our results."

Two second-half goals were enough to condemn Williamson's men to defeat as they were beaten by a Danny Boshell penalty and a Robert Atkinson header.
