Javier Mascherano claims Liverpool can still win the Premier League title this season despite falling 13 points behind leaders Arsenal.

The Argentina midfielder says Liverpool have been creating enough chances to keep picking up the victories that he believes will increase the pressure on the front runners.

"We can still win the Premier League," Mascherano told the club's official website. "But we can't keep looking at the table.

"We've got a game coming up against Wigan and we just have to win our next two or three games. If we do that, we will be right up there, because if you win three or four games consecutively, it means you can be closer to the top of the table.

"Now we just have to do our best against Wigan and try and get those three points.

"We deserved to win at Manchester City. We had a lot of chances, but that's what football is like. You need to score to win and we couldn't score. It's a big disappointment for us. But I don't think we need to do much more.

"We have been scoring a lot of goals in the last few games. The most important thing is that, although we couldn't score, we created a lot of chances.

"If we keep playing like we did at City, then I think we will win a lot of games. We played well and we just have to keep on doing as we have been."

Liverpool play Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night, the first of two games in hand over Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.
