The 31-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him at Loftus Road until the end of June 2011.

The Iceland international joined Rangers on loan in November and has since gone on to make seven appearances for the Championship side, scoring three goals.

Helguson told QPR's official website: "I have really enjoyed my loan spell here and I am happy that my future is sorted out.

"I believe we have a great opportunity to push on in the second half of the season and I am looking forward to playing my part in what promises to be an exciting future for this club."

Manager Paulo Sousa said: "Heidar has proved to be a valuable addition to the squad in recent weeks and I am delighted we've managed to bring him here on a permanent deal."

  5. Why does QPR always buy former Watford players? Apart from Lee Cook, if they are not good enough for Watford they should not be good enough for Rangers!
