Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie has said star striker Jermain Defoe has expressed a wish to leave Fratton Park.
The England international has been strongly linked with a January move back to Tottenham, where he would be reunited with former Pompey boss Harry Redknapp.
Portsmouth are eager to keep hold of Defoe - who was angered after being left on the bench by manager Tony Adams in the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last month - as they look to climb the Premier League table.
However, Storrie said Defoe looks set to quit the South Coast outfit just 12 months after moving from Spurs.
"It looks like Jermain wants to go," he told the Portsmouth News. "That is something we will be speaking to him about."
However, Storrie added that Pompey will not allow their £7.5 million forward - who has also been linked with Aston Villa - to leave in a cut-price deal.
"If Jermain goes it will be at our price and if there is an offer which appeals," he said.
"We have always said we will not keep people who do not want to play for Portsmouth Football Club."
Spurs boss Redknapp had told Sky: "If we could agree a fee with Portsmouth, then fine: he is a good player.
"They haven't got to sell him if they don't want to. If they say 'no' then that is the end of the story."

Rock and Roll, U R are just talking right thro' your backside! Just 'cos Tottennumb casually poached Dirty Harry and Turncoat Jordan, U think u r the bees knees, swellhead! @#$%! What Did they gain from buggering off 2 Spuds anyway? your so called "big"(??) club r also up 4 sale, and you're still only just above the relegation drop zone! bet you've never even been anywhere near Pompey!! U should have been at Southsea for the great Cup Final victory parade last May - fantastic atmosphere, with over 200,000 fans there! and all the way down from Fratton Park and further away......
.......with your anti-Sol "fans", Pompey fans are way better than Spuds any day, including the Hants accents!
So Jermaine Defoe wants to leave Portsmouth, they turn down an offer and he then calls in sick. Is this the same Jermaine Defoe who wanted to leave West Ham and when they refused to sell him kept getting sent off? Coincidence or am I being cynical?
I agree, I mean how can you knock Pompey fans?
Every football fan knows how good we are, when I go to watch England evryone says how passionate we are, and they all have respect for us.
this rock and roll aint a football lad, hes just a @#$%

Most of Spurs fans are from North Essex or the other home counties, there a little team with no success, and bunch of supporters that no-one in the counrty likes or respects. This Rock and Roll is either a scummer or a spurs fan with a chip on his shoulder. either way he dont know his football.
