Premier League - Tevez: My future is at United

Eurosport - Fri, 02 Jan 13:59:00 2009

Carlos Tevez insists he is happy at Manchester United and is confident of agreeing a permanent deal with the club.

FOOTBALL Carlos Tevez Manchester United - 0

The Argentina international is currently in the second year of a complicated loan move, with that agreement set to expire in the summer.

United are yet to offer the combative front-man a full-time contract, with the issue having hung over both player and club for some considerable time.

Tevez has been utilised mainly as a squad player by Sir Alex Ferguson this season and has seen his number of outings limited as a result.

However, having helped the club to domestic and European glory last term, the 24-year-od is adamant that he sees his long-term future at Old Trafford.

"I am not preoccupied about my future," Tevez told the Daily Mail.

"My instincts are to stay with the club and in the next week or so I think there will be more contact with regards to sorting out my contract. That is what we've been told.

"My agent is in touch with United all the time and he tells me that everything is very positive now. So it is up to the club.

"Other clubs have asked about me but I see my future at United."

Of those 'other clubs' said to be interested, Spanish giants Real Madrid are thought to he heading the queue.

The reigning Liga champions have a reputation for landing high-profile summer signings, but Tevez remains hopeful that United will find the funds to match his considerable price tag.

"Some people say that £32million is high but I cannot comment on that. Those are the figures that were agreed at the start. I am not responsible," he added.

"It has been a complicated season for me, there is no point denying that. I have not been able to get as many minutes on the field as I would like because the quality of the forwards at the club is incredible.

"It is not easy for forwards to get into this team and I have suffered. But that does not make me want to leave. I have no urge to run away."

  1. Senor Carlito Tevez is gsining momentum while playing for the champion of Europe, do not let him go to Madrid. Look what happen to Van Nisterooy. We've already lost a few good men to spanish capital. Let Ronaldo go to where his heart belongs. There will be another ronaldo along the way, trust me.

  2. This guy from Port Apache is humble and full of commitment for the club, why on earth did the club refuse to give him a contract? He is willing to sit on the bench and ready to play even a few minutes he can make a differentl. Senor Tevez is here to stay, grasias.

  3. I think the problem with Tevez is his oft quoted desire to return to Boca Juniors. What that means is that if United buy him now and sign him on a five year contract then Tevez will simply run down his contract and leave United on a free... Not a good financial investment at all. And not a good reward for a club that is willing to pay 32 million for you!

  4. signing Tevez is a must, he wants to be a united legend. There's 100s of clubs out there that would love to have him sign but no he stays at united on loan. in my opinion he will be the next super sub just like ole was

  5. Tevez is going nowhere everyone should know that. No matter how he looks, all Manchester United fans should love his dedication to the club. He wears his heart on his shirt, the red shirt. Ferguson, you have to learn Berba is in for the money, and he is only good with Keane. It is true Tevez's shirts and frachise wont sell as much as Berbatov's, but i know every fan has a placein every United players heart. Seeing his dedication and his loyalty just makes me cry. Think of all the important goals he has scored for this club. I am not telling to sell Berbatov, just drop him to the bench for five games and let Tevez start with Rooney upfront. Then everyone will see the magical El- Rooney Tevez partnership spark again, and will surely work wonders. Rooney, Ronaldo, and Tevez made the best partnership last year, and that is why other clubs weren't focused on. THE ASSISTS FOR RONALDO'S 42 GOALS LAST SEASON, ABOUT 30 OR SO CAME FROM EITHER ROONEY OR TEVEZ. Tevez is vital, and that is the main point.

is a world class player, runs back tackles links up with players and runs non stop for 90 minutes, a team player. ronaldo fergie should bring him to the ofice some day and show him a few videos of what tevez does over 90 min not 9
he is a waster get the mney for the poser

  9. Just to clarify, Tevez is not owned by any football club, he's owned by a group of agents known as Media Sports Investment.

He was never owned by West Ham, they had only paid M.S.I for the right to register him (and Mascherano) as a player at the club. M.S.I then compensated some of the money back to West Ham to end that deal, so he could move to Man United for a possible future purchase.

  10. but Ronie
if berbatov and ronaldo were to take it in turns till they start performing consistent
    like u say
there would be no consistancy because they wouldnt be getting a consisdent game one minuet they would be on the bench the next playing.
Thats stupid Tevez, Berbatov and Rooney shouls all learn to play with each other and then have all 3 strikers on the pitch at once. If they cant learn then alex f should continue what hes doing with the rotation system.

  11. In My Opinion Tevez should be automatic choice and the other Two Lightweights (Ronaldo and Berbatov) should take it in turns for a place until they start performing consistent

  12. Unless there is something going on behind closed doors... maybe at the training ground or in the dressing room, I really see no reason why Tevez should be left out. This is one guy who can dribble, create chances and shoot from long range... he also scores fantastic match-winning goals. He can wrestle and he is always everywhere unlike Berbatov who is just bossing around..! as if we care.
WHY DOESN'T FERGIE LISTEN TO IDEAS FROM HIS FANS? Teves is going NO WHERE... END OF.

  13. Berbatov is the player, who will bring glory for United and Ferguson knows it.Tevez is deferend kind of striker . It depends what kind of football you prefer ,you can choose one of both to play Rooney in front.Ferguson made his choice and this is the important one.

Shut up your big mouths! Manchester United is not a force in football today, except Carrick. They have some luck but that is vapour as it will fly away this year. Arsenal is a story of once upon a time. Wenger is arrogant. Chelsea has no history,no future and no present(except the two year period under Jose Mourinho).Liverpool got a balanced team but someone told me their second best player(Gerrard) is a merciless brute, who recently cut-open a non-footballer´s nose. Nothing special in premier league!!!

  15. Well, if Carlito eventually end up with Real, we can see something funny here:

Carlito wants to stay at Man Utd, but ends up with Real.
Ronaldo wants to join Real Madrid, but has to stay at Man Utd.
Man Utd keep the want-away Ronaldo, but let go of the dedicated and loyal Carlito.
    Weird isn't it? :D

Some readers say it all, besides Carlito's talent, experience, reputation, and dedication, he is not prone to injury. That is a plus for the seemingly high price.
Some people may even have the opinion that Carlito is not good-looking and the selling of shirt may not be good. :D
But I think ordinary people like you and me will love him more than others because he is loyal and loveable :) , good-looking or not doesn't matter.

  17. Clive F STFU, Keano is a crackin player, i just wish UTD took the chance on him. As Berbatov he's the kind of player we need. Are you gonna continue to argue against SAF, hmmm what exactly has SAF done for this club? Yeah so STFU!!!

  19. Spurs were very fortunate over that Berbatov and Keane had a natural understanding with each other. Berbatov made Keane look good, and over inflated his transfer fee, and Keane made Berba look good, which overinfalted his sell on fee. It is sad really as it seems to me there were 3 losers in these transfers last season, Us, Liverpool, and Spurs. Spurs did get the money but lost the Berbatov Keane partnership which has undoubtedly cost them dear this season. Utd & Liverpool both paid well over the top for only half the package. The ideal would have to have kept the partnership together.
Berba is undoubtedly a very good player, but is a luxury player. Tevez is the whole package, and very much a team player.

  20. i strongly belief that TEVEZ is far better Berbatov. Berbatov is actually a lazy palyer. Wait up front for ball, not even strong enough physically.Berbatov has been very useful in any position.SPEED, SKILL AND DEDICATIONS, his got them all. So, why do we need to spend so much on Berbatov?
