A moment of madness from Macclesfield goalkeeper Jonathan Brain gift-wrapped a 1-0 win for in-form Bradford City.In the 75th minute he fluffed a simple clearance from a punt forward by Kyle Nix to present 18-year-old David Brown with an open goal on his debut.
Bantams keeper Scott Loach then handed him a lesson making a brilliant double save first to claw wide a Teddy Dunfield penalty before blocking the powerful return from Neil Ashton, after Danny Thomas had been upended by Joe Colbeck.
Macclesfield strikers spurned the opportunity to record only their third home win of the season with Levi Reid heading wide in the fourth minute before Michael Symes dummied his marker only to shoot wide of the far post in the 35th minute.
Symes had more chances to break the deadlock after the break, first heading a Reid cross straight at Loach before throwing himself at a diving header when he had time to collect the ball and shoot in the 72nd minute.
Macclesfield threw men forward at the death but Bradford's mean defence held firm to ensure that their unbeaten run in 2008 was extended to six games.
