Strugglers serve up stalemate

Sat 02 Feb, 07:02 PM

Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson got his Gills career off to a nightmare start missing a hatful of chances in a 0-0 home draw with Cheltenham.Jackson had netted 18 times for Rushden before his money-spinning move but was thwarted by Robins keeper Shane Higgs as the Gills' winless run extended to five.

The Canadian born front-man started brightly testing Shane Higgs from 18-yards after only eight minutes before missing Delroy Facey's pin-point cross.

However Adam Miller livened up proceedings with a powerful half-volley tipped onto the crossbar by Higgs.

Cheltenham nearly stunned the home side seconds later when Andy Lindegaard lashed over following keeper Simon Royce's lapse.

And Cheltenham nearly stole it late on when Steven Gillespie crashed against the bar but it ended goalless as the Gills failed to find the net for the fourth time in five.
