Trezeguet glum at Euro outlook

Sat 02 Feb, 12:45 PM

Juventus striker David Trezeguet admits he is unlikely to be at Euro 2008 because France coach Raymond Domenech does not have faith in him.The 30-year-old has enjoyed a successful career with the national side and was part of the squad that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

Despite being Serie A's top scorer so far this season with 15 goals the striker admits he may not feature at Euro 2008 this summer.

"I have given an important contribution to the national team, but the conditions no longer exist to continue, because this coach has made other choices," he told La Gazzetto dello Sport.

"So I would not bet a euro on my presence at the European championships."

Trezeguet has also revealed that he has turned down a place in Domenech's squad for two friendlies in Spain next week.

He believes he would be used in Tuesday's 'A' fixture with Democratic Republic of Congo, rather than the first team game against Spain on Wednesday.

"I would like to be useful but I can't do that as a fifth-choice forward, like I was at the last World Cup," he added.

"Two months locked inside waiting for someone to get hurt - it's not for me.

"It's also a question of motivation. I would have gone to the end of the world 10 years ago, but not now at 30, after everything I have done and continue to do."
