Heskey To Miss Out For England

Sat 02 Feb, 09:11 PM

Wigan striker Emile Heskey has been ruled out of the England squad for Wednesday's friendly against Switzerland due to injury.

Latics manager Steve Bruce confirmed the 30-year-old would not be able to link up with Fabio Capello's party after suffering an unspecified problem during Saturday's 1-0 victory over West Ham at JJB Stadium.

Heskey was withdrawn after 57 minutes of the Barclays Premier League match and was replaced by Marcus Bent.

(reopens) Bruce said of Heskey: "He's got a nerve problem, I think.

"It's just a continuation of the big fella being out for three or four months because he is getting niggles, pulls and strains all the time."
