Former Tottenham and West Ham striker Frederic Kanoute has been named the 2007 African Footballer of the Year.
The Sevilla star finished ahead of Chelsea duo Didier Drogba - last year's winner - and Michael Essien, becoming the first European-born player to claim the prize.
Kanoute was born in France but plays his international football for Mali.
