Robbie Keane has completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur while Andrei Arshavin's transfer to Arsenal is hanging in the balance after a disagreement over payment of a part of his signing-on fee to Zenit St Petersburg.

22:20 - It looks like this Andrei Arshavin business will not sorted until Tuesday morning, but all being well the Russian will be an Arsenal player before too long. What a signing - he is going to be fantastic to watch. Thanks for joining us on this transfer deadline day.

21:40 - Only one transfer is waiting to be cleared up, but it is arguably the biggest of the whole transfer window - and there is still no confirmation either way on the Arshavin front. It is thought the FA may even wait until tomorrow morning to OK the deal as the snow has left them short-staffed today. It could be an anxious night for Arsenal fans.

19:40 - DONE DEAL! Sunderland sign Calum Davenport on loan from West Ham until the end of the season. He joins fellow deadline-day arrival Tal Ben Haim.

18:55 - DONE DEAL! Chelsea have completed the signing of Internazionale winger Ricardo Quaresma on loan until the end of the season!

18:50 - Positive news for Arsenal fans! The Gunners will make a statement on the Arshavin transfer this evening and Arsene Wenger insists the deal will go through!

18:30 - MORE DONE DEALS! Blackpool sign Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam on loan until the end of the season; Derby defender Claude Davis joins Championship rivals Crystal Palace on a month's loan; Watford sign Latvian winger Aleksandrs Cauna on loan until the end of the season from Skonto Riga; Ipswich stalwart Richard Naylor joins Leeds on a free transfer; Oldham Athletic re-sign left-back Daniel Jones from Wolves on loan until the end of the season; Reading allow club captain Graeme Murty to extend his loan with Championship strugglers Charlton for a further month.

18:15 - OFF? Zenit St Petersburg are a bunch of drama queens, aren't they? But we like it. After months of conflicting statements, the Russian club say they will make a statement on Andrei Arshavin 's transfer to Arsenal in an hour. Then five minutes later they will probably change their minds. Reuters claim that club officials have scuppered the deal, but other media outlets say it's still on. Whatever happens, it looks like this saga is finally coming to its conclusion.

17:55 - DONE DEAL!!West Brom sign Argentinian forward Juan Carlos Menseguez on loan from San Lorenzo de Almagro. He scores just five times in 110 appearances for Wolfsburg between 2003 and 2007, which you will agree is less than prolific.

17:35 - DEAL OFF? A Zenit St Petersburg official has told the Associated Press that Andrei Arshavin's move to Arsenal could fall through as the player and club have been unable to agree the repayment of a signing-on fee. Hearts in mouths for Arsenal fans.

17:35 - DONE DEAL!! Tottenham Hotspur confirm the signing of Robbie Keane from Liverpool - six months after he left the club for Anfield. No mention of a fee. Great news for Spurs fans, less so for Liverpool - they are very short of strikers going into the Premier League run-in.

17:30 - MORE DONE DEALS!!Grimsby complete the loan signing of forward Adrian Forbes from League One side Millwall until the end of the season. Norwich sign striker Cody McDonald to Carrow Road from non-league outfit Dartford, and Fulham defender Adrian Leijer - both on loan for the rest of the season. And Motherwell sign Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan and Birmingham forward Semih Aydilek on loan until the end of the season.

17:25 - The deals that didn't go through: Roque Santa Cruz is still a Blackburn Rovers player despite an £18.5m bid from Manchester City; Giovani's move from Tottenham to Portsmouth fell through when his medical revealed he was not even close to match fitness; Newcastle failed with an £8m bid for Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson; Liverpool have failed to sign Javier Saviola as a replacement for Robbie Keane; and Everton's late interest in Kevin Kuranyi came to nothing.

17:10 - DONE DEAL!! Michael Chopra has gone back to Cardiff on loan from Sunderland. It was his form in South Wales that prompted Roy Keane to shell out £5m in the first place.

17:00 - SLAM!! That's the sound of the January transfer window shutting. Only it hasn't really. As long as teams have notified the FA of an agreement in principle, they have until midnight to complete their business - as long as they can supply evidence that the snowy weather delayed them.

16:59 - DONE DEAL!! Midfielder Jimmy Smith joins Leyton Orient on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season.

16:58 - Wigan winger Olivier Kapo has revealed he wants out of the JJB, saying: "I want a loan this winter." Bit late now...

16:58 - God bless that fax machine. Tottenham have submitted their Robbie Keane paperwork to the FA with seconds to spare. Assuming his medical didn't reveal a third buttock or some other physical deformity, that is a done deal.

16:57 - DONE DEAL!! Watford complete the signing of Inverness midfielder Don Cowie for a nominal fee. He has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.

16:55 - Liverpool are making pessimistic noises about their chances of signing a replacement for Robbie Keane - possibly Javier Saviola. Meanwhile, Everton are attempting a deadline-busting move for Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi.

16:55 - Tottenham confirm that their business for the day is completed. Keane will go through, but they have given up trying to sign Ricardo Quaresma. But will Harry Redknapp be able to leave his mobile alone for five more minutes?

16:50 - We are just a Jimmy Page guitar solo away from the closure of the transfer window at 5pm, and the main outstanding issue would seem to be Ricardo Quaresma, who could be joining either Chelsea or Tottenham on loan for the rest of the season. Keane and Arshavin will surely be completed, even if the loose ends are tied up later this evening.

16:45 - DEAL OFF!! Manchester City have confirmed they have ended their interest in Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz. City also say they will not sell Michael Johnson.

16:40 -Newcastle have had an £8m bid for Michael Johnson rejected - he looks likely to remain a Manchester City player unless he goes to Blackburn as part of the Santa Cruz deal.

16:40 - DONE DEAL!! International midfielder leaves Zenit St Petersburg! But it's Anatoliy Tymoschuk, who has signed for Bayern Munich for around £12.5m. Will this have any ramifications for the Arshavin deal?

16:35 - Bad news for headline-writers. Benfica defender Marco Zoro will not be joining Bolton or Blackburn. He has signed for Vitoria Setubal instead. And who can blame him?

16:35 - Ha! Brilliant! Chelsea are reportedly attempting to hijack Tottenham's bid for Inter winger Ricardo Quaresma! They only have 25 minutes to do so, however.

16:30 - Andrei Arshavin is inching closer to becoming an Arsenal player. He has passed his medical at the Emirates, but the one remaining obstacle is that Zenit reportedly want a cut of the Russian's signing-on fee.

16:05 - DONE DEALS!!Aldershot sign 19-year-old Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and Cheltenham midfielder Andy Lindegaard - both on a month's loan.

16:00 - With an hour left until the transfer window closes, Liverpool confirm they have agreed a fee with Tottenham for Robbie Keane. It's just a hunch, but Keane and Defoe could be a useful partnership for Spurs.

16:00 - It's all going off! Arsenal have agreed both a fee with Zenit St Petersburg and personal terms with Andrei Arshavin! A roving TV reporter has his moment of glory spoiled as two kids chuck snow at each other immediately behind him.

15:55 - MASSIVE DEAL!!Rochdale have extended the loan spell of Blackburn goalkeeper Frank Fielding until the end of the season. It's that kind of white-knuckle action that makes deadline day so compelling.

15:50 - DONE DEAL!! Charlie Insomnia completes his move to Wigan for Taylor plus cash. Joe Kinnear won't be losing any sleep over that deal, etc etc.

15:50 - DONE DEAL!! Leeds United complete the signing of American striker Mike Grella, who has signed an 18-month contract at Elland Road.

15:45 - A reminder of just what is going on - the deadline, sensibly enough for a January transfer window, remains 5pm on February 2. But teams can continue to register deals until midnight if they can provide proof that they have been delayed by the adverse weather conditions. What kind of proof? Snowballs?

15:40 - The word on the rumour mill is that Fulham have signed former Leeds man Olivier Dacourt on loan from Internazionale for the rest of the season. The Frenchman will be allocated Jimmy Bullard's locker.

15:35 - DEAL OFF! Giovani has been found to be so lacking in fitness during his medical at Fratton Park that Portsmouth have pulled the plug on their deal for the young Mexican. He returns, shame-faced, to Tottenham.

15:30 - Whelan also says there is "a lot of interest" in Luis Valencia and sounds less than confident about his chances of keeping the Ecuador winger in the summer.

15:25 - Wigan chairman Dave Whelan confirms N'Zogbia is just finishing his medical at the club, and Ryan Taylor will leave the JJB for Newcastle in a part-exchange deal.

14:35 - We still await news of Robbie Keane's potential move to White Hart Lane. He is undergoing a medical at Spurs, with some reports claiming a £15m fee has been agreed and others having us believe the clubs are yet to reach a compromise.

14:30 - DEADLINE EXTENDED - The transfer window has indeed been extended past five o'clock, but only for those transfers which have been hindered by the weather - this must be proven.

14:25 - According to reports Roque Santa Cruz will be staying at Blackburn. Too little, too late on City's part - Rovers wanted to replace him and now will have no time to do so.

12:05 - DONE DEAL!! Brighton take Stockport full-back Jim McNulty to the Withdean for £150,000.

12:00 -Cardiff reveal that they have bid £3m for an unnamed striker. If you are able to add two and two together successfully you will come up with the answer Fletcher.

11:55 - DONE DEAL!! Defender Michael Liddle will remain at Carlisle until the end of the season after the Cumbrians agreed a deal with his parent club Sunderland.

11:50 - Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who spent time at Cardiff and Cov last season, wants a move away from Eastlands following the arrival of Shay Given at the weekend.

11:45 - Bristol City reject a bid from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest for veteran striker Dele Adebola.

10:50 -Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins wants Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi - the goal hero against Chelsea in the FA Cup last season - on loan. The tall Nigerian is not having a prolific season with the Reds.

10:45 -Milan have included David Beckham in their squad list for the UEFA Cup - does that mean he will sign permanently from LA Galaxy? It certainly doesn't dampen those rumours...

09:45 - Reading are still hopeful that Stephen Hunt will stay, saying again that they have not received any bids matching the £5 million buy-out clause in his contract.
