Frustrated Hamilton eager to sort out future
Lewis Hamilton is eager to sort out his future with McLaren early in the 2012 campaign so that speculation about his plans does not overshadow what he hopes is a world championship winning campaign.
The Briton is out of contract at the end of this year and, while it is likely he will remain at McLaren, there have been frequent rumours about a potential switch to Red Bull Racing ever since he held a secret meeting with Christian Horner at last year's Canadian Grand Prix.
But although nothing has yet been sorted, Hamilton has indicated that he will sit down with his McLaren bosses after the first few races to decide on an action plan for the future.
"At the moment the focus is on the preparation we have coming up for the season," he said. "Probably after the first couple of races it's something we will probably want to get out of the way.
"We can then focus on the rest of the year without the team being concerned and without it being something hanging around, so then you guys (the media) won't have to ask questions about it.
"So I'll try to get that out of the way at some stage, probably in the earlier part of the year rather than later."
Hamilton returned to the public spotlight at the 2012 McLaren launch in Woking on Wednesday following a difficult end to last season - dogged with on-track frustrations and difficulties in his personal life.
But having had a winter to sort his mind out, Hamilton reckoned he was going to be much stronger this year than he was throughout the campaign.
"I want to win every race. I think I can," he said. "I think I've the ability to. If the car is where we hope there's no reason why we can't do that.
"The only thing that ever gets in your way is your own mind and your own insecurities or obstacles that you put in your way. The most important thing is to put those things aside and to overcome them, and I think I have.
"So I feel right. Standing right in front of you I feel stronger than I was a few months ago particularly, but even more so than I was last year at the start of the year."

Seriously? I hope Hamilton does sort himself out, then we can be relieved of all the excuses that have been put forth by himself, his team, the race commentators, and especially his fans!
I'm tired of hearing how it's someone or something else's fault whenever he's in the midst of an issue/ crisis/ cirumstance!! See that? Just not to offend, I had to use three different "non-offensive" words to label all the problems Hamilton needs to sort out in his head!!
Personally, I don't hold out much hope considering his comment about being better able to see Massa, thanks to the new mirrors on this car. It was in bad taste, IF he thought he was being funny, especially in light of the fact the two made contact at almost 1/2 the races, last season. There I go again, in order not to offend, I suggested they made contact!
tsk... tsk... tsk... It's just as hard for many of us not to be negative where Hamilton is concerned as it has been for so many of you not to be negative where Alonso, Schumi or Vettel are concerned!!
@withamparkins, if you cannot be bothered to talk to me why did you reply? It’s like when people comment “don’t care” in after looking at an article. I’m struggling to understand what your point is. You stated that he should basically get on with his job and stop talking about his emotions, as if he is not allowed to let his emotions get to him because of his job.
You have used Button as an example of someone who didn’t let his emotions get the better of him last year, but he most certainly has done so in the past.
Helen, the media is always looking for Hamilton not him looking for it. for crying out loud he said whatever he did because it was a public event where a driver like him is expected to speak to the media. so when redbull launch their car vettel will also face the media, will you say the same about him?
yahoo idiots.... why is my msg not posted????????????
SOME NEWS.
Mubadala abu dhabi has abandoned ferrarri sponsorship and bought Force Inndia f1 team. they bought out vettels contract so vettel is moving there, Lewis Hamolton is moving to Red Bull, Paul di Resta is moving to Mc Laren so they keep all british team. and Lewis Hamilton was seen together with Sheryl Cole holding hands
"avadis",
There seems to be only McLaren stories as instaid of strutting about giving interviews Vettel is likely head down studying the car, tyres etc to see how he can get the best out of the package he has this season.
He has no need to be seen or to be vocal at this point as hes the man to beat.
Hamilton needs to forget the problems of last season, and concentrate on his driving rather than whether he has an extention to his contract or not.
If he drives to his ability there will be no problem there.
Good luck to them all and lets hope for a closer season that will produce more exciting racing.
Well Kevin I cannot be bothered to talk with you - read your own comments and then my replies and then you will see that I never mentioned sex - crime etc - and certainley did not equate salary to emotional strength and I think you will find that the Button reference is revelent and I think if you re read your comments you will see why. But anyway still does not change things - he should shut up - let his driving do the talking and realise that once he was thought to be the new kid on the block and actually Vettel has stolen that spot - back to back and I think could win three - four more if he stays motivated - now thats the gig LH should be focusing on not red carpets and bling blang bling moan moan moan.
The season hasn't even started and he is frustrated, this has to be some sort of record even for him. Instead of trying to manipulate everything to suit him, he might like to remember who was the better driver last year at the team!
Che notte per l'asino buche sono ora addormentati o ubriachi, ma in Inghilterra, sono gli stessi
because avadis @39, no cares about vettel , only mclaren lol
What is interesting, I see nothing but Mclaren articles day after day about either hamilton or button... !!!!!!! ??????

Ape, Quando si è in un intelligenza molto basso, fallo parole sono tutti potete venire con. Questo è quello che fa per sé una scarsa istruzione
'Rhihfdrs Rhihrgs', you say, ' It would be a gesture of confidence in McLaren aftrer everything they have done for him since he was 10 years old!.' That's a nice idealistic thought you have there! But it doesn't work in this day and age! IF, Mclaren gives him a 'good' car, and he DOESN'T produce results, what do YOU think would happine? They would dump LH as soon as something better comes along! It's a 'two way street', he HAS to produce for Mclaren, BUT, Mclaren have give him a car to produce with! Yesterday is 'history', the question is 'what have you done for me today"! Loyalty is a wonderful thing to have, but, loyalty, ( on BOTH sides), has it's limits!
