Kittel triumphs in Besseges second stage
Marcel Kittel was victorious on stage two of the Etoile de Besseges after the course was curtailed due to snow and strong winds.
The 23-year-old German pipped Belgian Kris Boeckmans and France’s Nacer Bouhanni in a sprint finish to claim his opening stage win in the second race of the season.
The stage was reduced to 58km instead of the original 146km as the torrid weather conditions forced organisers to postpone the departure to Lussan.
The start of the stage, which connected Nimes to St Ambroix, saw the pack veer off track in convoy but Kittel timed his ride to perfection and celebrated his first win of the season.

RiChArD I'm a cynic i can't understand why they run with this unless he guilty, it just put another doping nail in cycling tyres even if unproven.
The whole concept of UV treatment ...... IF its medicinally viable it sounds like a fantastic bit of science for sure, but as a doping aid? How is it meant to help??
I hope it's proven that there has been no foul, Supposedly it goes back to when he was 19? That would a depressing indictment of where we have been for the last few years when the hope was meant to be for a brighter future being built.
MK is a fantastic talent, it would be a real shame if he was tainted by association with a suspect doctor!
What you rec RiChArD guilty by association or will it be proven.
missed his big interview as he was at the doctors ......
How is this man still at skill? Very good sprinter and i thought some big pro teams would of wanted his speed.
