Sky Blues still seek striker

Coventry still hope to bring in a striker before next Saturday's trip to Reading.

Steve Waggott, brought in to help mastermind City's transfer dealings, oversaw the capture of three new faces in January with the loan arrivals of Alex Nimely and Oliver Norwood from Manchester City and rivals United respectively.

Veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson also signed a permanent deal at the Ricoh Arena and while happy with the trio, Waggott was keen to snare another senior striker and still has high hopes of doing so when the loan window reopens on February 8.

"I am pleased, but to a point," he told the club's official website. "Alex and Oliver were at the top of our list because they offer something different and give Andy (Thorn, manager) exciting options."

He added: "We were talking to a number of Premier League clubs about strikers and will continue to do that in the hope we can land someone to face Reading away on February 11."
