Bury manager Alan Knill slammed his side's lacklustre performance after they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at League Two high-flyers Peterborough. After a disappointing first half Dean Keates burst into the box and used all of his slight 5ft 6ins frame to rise at the back post and head a Claude Gnakpa cross beyond Bury goalkeeper Darren Randolph in the 59th minute.
Bury should have netted early on when Adam Rooney blazed a sitter high over the crossbar, but they then found Posh shot-stopper Joe Lewis to be an unbeatable last line of defence.
Knill said: "We were easily good enough to get a result against Peterborough, but we failed with the basics at both ends.
"If you don't keep the ball out and if you don't be ruthless enough to put it in at the other end, this is what happens. We have allowed the smallest guy on the pitch to score with a header at the back post and that is simply not acceptable."
