Ling upbeat after picking up point

Sun 02 Mar, 07:15 PM

Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling had no complaints with Brighton's last-minute penalty after their 1-1 draw at the Withdean Stadium on Saturday.Nicky Forster scored the spotkick, awarded when Adam Chambers handled a cross by substitute Jake Robinson, and Ling felt a draw was a fair result.

He said: "I thought before the game we needed 24 points from our last 12 matches to make the play-offs and taking a point keeps us in contention."

Ling dropped goalkeeper Stuart Nelson in favour of Glenn Morris and started the match with top scorer Adam Boyd on the bench.

He explained: "Glenn had done nothing wrong in his previous four games earlier in the season and it was pleasing that when Adam came on we got the goal.

"We got a reaction from the team and that was good, it was just unfortunate that we couldn't hang on and take the three points. Brighton edged the first half before we came back into it and in the end a draw was about right."
