KVITFJELL, Norway (AFP) - Georg Streitberger of Austria scored an upset win in the men's World Cup super-G here on Sunday edging out overall leader Bode Miller of the United States.

It was the 26-year-old's first World Cup race win, his previous best having been a sixth place in a super-G at Val Gardena, Italy in December 2006.

"It's a victory, but I cannot be that happy with it because of Matthias Lanzinger," said Streitberger referring to the serious injuries sustained in a fall by the Austrian skier.

"It's not nice to see such a thing in the super-G or in a downhill. It's very dangerous."

Norwegian television reports later said that the 27-year-old Lanzinger had sustained multiple fractures to his left leg and had been badly concussed after his head banged into a ski-pole when he fell.

He was air-lifted to hospital and was expected to undergo an operation later in the evening.

Miller made it onto the podium for the third straight day at Kvitfjell having won Saturday's downhill and placed second in Friday's.

That all leaves him comfortably ahead in the overall World Cup standings with a 185 points lead over Switzerland's Didier Cuche who placed third on Sunday and practically made certain of winning the super-G Crystal Globe with just one race to go.

There are only six races to go for Miller to hold onto his lead, including two slaloms which the 33-year-old Cuche does not compete in but the American does.

Austrian slalom specialist Benjamin Raich can hope to pick up points down the home stretch, but his poor showing in the three races in Norway has left him a yawning 290 points behind Miller in the overall standings.
