After feeling the wrath of the Emirates boo-boys, Arsene Wenger could finally abandon Arsenal for a ready-made team of champions.

The worrying trend of supporters booing their own teams took a truly bizarre twist when Arsenal fans turned on their players and manager after the goalless draw at home to Fulham.

Perhaps the decision to move to a bigger stadium, give season-ticket priority to local residents (read 'Islington yuppies who know jack about football') and create executive boxes for corporate entertainment (see above) has created a culture of handkerchief-waving soccer tourists and corporate hospitality smugs who care little for the club and more for the kudos of 'going to the footy'?

Or perhaps Arsenal are just a bit rubbish and Weng is to blame?

History says otherwise - they are clearly a side in transition and Wenger's track record (doubles, going unbeaten for a season, playing the most attractive football in the land) strongly hints that his young team will, with experience - and once they overcome big injuries to key players like Cesc Fabregas, Eduardo and Theo Walcott - become double-winning, all-conquering world-beaters in the mould of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Denis Bergkamp, Robert Pires and, um, Tony Adams.

Certain elements of Gunners fans, it seems, are somewhat impatient. They want their courtiers to make them smile and they want them to do it now, and if they don't they will "scweam and scweam and scweam" until they're "thick" and quite possibly behead them.

If this is the case, then Mr Wenger too has the right to be impatient. It will take a couple of seasons before his kids develop the ballsy consistency needed to beat off the likes of Fulham, and if the fans and board don't want to give him this time he could always take the Barcelona or Milan job after both slumped to disappointing defeats at the weekend.

Milan chief Adriano Galliani has admitted that star midfielder Kaka could go to Real Madrid.

After the Rossoneri accepted that the Great Eastlands Rip-Off would not be countenanced by the player, they will take around half the £108 million Manchester City were offering should Kaka decide he wants to move on.

Responding to renewed suggestions that Los Merengues could move for the Brazilian in the summer, Galliani told Marca that "with Florentino Perez in charge over there, anything could happen".

That is assuming, of course, that Kaka does not wake up one morning and decide that laughter is all he wants from life and that this ambition would be most readily achieved at City.

Sebastien Puygrenier has impressed Bolton boss Gary Megson since arriving on loan from Zenit St Petersburg in the January transfer window but the Trotters boss is still unsure whether to take the French defender on a permanent deal.

It would cost around £6m to sign the former Nancy stopper, but Megson wants to wait and see how he bears up to the incessant pace and constant physicality of the English game.

Former Aston Villa, Reading and Hibernian defender Ulises de la Cruz is expected to join Birmingham after a successful trial spell at St Andrews.

The Ecuador right-back is a free agent after being released by the Royals in the summer.

East Midlands duo Nottingham Forest and Leicester City are battling to sign Aston Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne on loan.

The 21-year-old is a peripheral figure at Villa Park and Martin O'Neill feels he could benefit from some first-team football.

While Forest are at a higher level than the Foxes, Osbourne must decide whether he wants to play in a struggling Championship side or contribute to free-scoring Leicester's League One title push.

  19. I'm no Arsenal supporter but Wenger's track­ record shows he's a top flight manager. Who'd­ blame him for wanting to move? In the modern game where­ instant success is demanded by supporters, let's­ not forget that teams go in cycles of success.­ Liverpool had their years, Man Utd had theirs, Chelsea­ had theirs, Arsenal had theirs. All the "Big­ 4" will have their successful times ahead. Arsenal­ are having a downturn but that's just part of the­ cycle. They'll be back. If the fans are so­ short-sighted as to blame Wenger, there's plenty of­ top flight European clubs would welcome him.
