Alonso unlikely to remain at Reebok

Wed 02 Apr, 07:00 PM

Mikel Alonso looks unlikely to turn his Bolton loan deal into a permanent move this summer - but the Real Sociedad midfielder could join Hull. The Trotters signed Alonso on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent move should he impress, but the 27-year-old has made just seven appearances.

He fell out of favour at the Reebok Stadium following the departure of Sammy Lee, with new boss Gary Megson seemingly deeming the Spaniard surplus to requirements.

Alonso's agent Inaki Ibanez is hopeful his client will clinch another Premier League move, though, and the first team to show an interest are Championship promotion hopefuls Hull, who are lining up a £600,000 bid according to the Daily Mirror.

Ibanez told Diario Vasco: "In principle Bolton have an option to sign him but it is difficult because Mikel is not playing right now.

"He will return to Real Sociedad with whom he is under contract. Then we will see what will happen. I hope he will carry on in the Premier League."
