Grimsby are to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the club's famous cup-winning exploits with a match between the 1998 class and today's squad.Alan Buckley's Mariners beat Bournemouth 2-1 to win the Football League Trophy, before returning to Wembley four weeks later to secure promotion to the second tier of English football with a 1-0 win over Northampton.

Seven of the victorious 1998 squad have confirmed they will appear - John McDermott, Tony Gallimore, Kevin Donovan, Dave Smith, Kingsley Black, Lee Nogan and Wayne Burnett, who scored the golden goal winner in the Trophy final.

McDermott, Grimsby's all-time record appearance holder, told the Grimsby Telegraph: "It will be great to see the lads again and it's good for the gaffer to have both teams he has managed a decade apart on the same pitch.

"I'm sure the lads from 1998 will also be looking forward to it. There are a few who didn't get the chance to say goodbye to the fans so hopefully there'll be a good crowd too."

The game will take place on April 28 at Blundell Park. Buckley is now in his third spell as Mariners manager after succeeding Russell Slade in November 2006.
