Wed 02 Apr, 11:15 PM

Keith Downing is confident his squad can write themselves into the Cheltenham history books by racking up a record amount of League One points. The Robins currently lie on 48 points, six away from the club record number they finished on last season, and Downing is convinced his side can go on and register the highest amount ever achieved in the third tier of English football by the Gloucestershire side.

The 42-year-old, who has been nominated for the manager of the month award following his side's run of one defeat in their last eight games, told The Forester: "I have told the players they can be history makers.

"I am not sure if it's appreciated straight away, but when people look back in the history books these players will always be remembered if they can do it it could be very special."
