Tottenham manager Juande Ramos admits his players 'owe' the fans following the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at White Hart Lane.Spurs are coasting towards the end of the season after securing a place in the UEFA Cup by beating Chelsea in the Carling Cup final in February.

Sunday's 4-1 loss to Newcastle at White Hart Lane equalled Spurs' heaviest defeat of the campaign and Ramos was not happy with the outcome.

With six games of the Premier League season remaining, Ramos is determined to witness an improvement before his players head off for their summer holidays.

"It wasn't good enough and we all know that," Ramos told the club's official website. "It goes without saying that we owe the fans better than that.

"It is important that the players perform with maximum intensity and concentration for the rest of the season.

"I'm happy with how the team has progressed and I do not want all that hard work to go to waste. We intend to focus with the squad on maintaining the kind of performances that we have come to expect at the Lane and which our supporters deserve.

"The coaches and the players are all professionals and we take pride in our performances.

"I have said all along that I am determined to win every one of our remaining games - every point counts - and we want to finish as high up the league table as possible."
