Hartlepool midfielder Antony Sweeney has ended months of speculation regarding his future by signing a new deal with the club.The 24-year-old was placed on the transfer list at the turn of the year after contract talks stalled, but boss Danny Wilson remained confident of keeping hold of the youngster.

Sweeney has made well over 150 appearances for Pools and will now remain at Victoria Park beyond the end of the season, although the club have not disclosed the exact length of the new deal.
