Ellison set to miss season finale

Fri 02 May, 02:00 PM

Midfielder Kevin Ellison is again an injury doubt ahead of Chester's final League Two clash of the season at home to Macclesfield on Saturday.Ellison failed to recover from a thigh problem to feature against Stockport in midweek, and the 29-year-old is facing another race against time to prove his fitness before the weekend.

The goalless draw against County banished any lingering relegation doubts and, with League Two safety now assured, boss Simon Davies could use the game at the Deva Stadium against the Silkmen to give several first-team fringe players the chance to impress.

Tony Grant and Paul Rutherford are just two of the players who could be handed starting spots, while striker John Murphy suffered no ill-effects in midweek after sustaining a head injury against Shrewsbury last weekend.

Long-term absentee Nathan Lowndes (back) remains out.
