The Rovers midfielder has had an injection in a troublesome ankle and could miss the last game of the season.

Central defender Steve Roberts has sustained a new knee injury and remains sidelined, as does fellow centre-half Adam Lockwood, who has a foot injury, so Sam Hird is expected to retain his place alongside on-loan Matt Mills.

But Graeme Lee returned from his loan spell at Shrewsbury in time to make the bench against Luton last week and he could return to the starting line-up.

Defender Sean McDaid is out after dislocating his knee-cap in a friendly last week.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham boss Keith Downing will be able to call on Steve Gillespie as they bid to seal their League One status.

The Robins striker was taken off as a precaution in last week's defeat to Oldham after suffering with cramp but is fit to take his place against Rovers.

On-loan midfielder Alex Russell (stomach) has trained this week and could retain his place in the side, while veteran defender Alan Wright has also resumed training after missing last week's game with a long-standing Achilles problem.

Long-term absentees Damian Spencer (knee), Michael Townsend (illness), Gavin Caines (knee) and John Finnigan (ankle) are all out.

Only a victory will guarantee Town their place in League One next season, otherwise they will have to rely on Bournemouth failing to beat Carlisle, while a defeat for the Robins and a failure of Bournemouth to win could pave the way for Gillingham to leapfrog them both.
