Late test for Eagles

Sat 02 May, 11:57 AM

Burnley manager Owen Coyle will check on the fitness of winger Chris Eagles ahead of the crunch visit of Bristol City.

The former Manchester United man was withdrawn at half-time during last weekend's 2-2 draw at Southampton.

He had complained of feeling unwell prior to the game but should be passed fit for a game the Clarets must win to be sure of making the play-offs.

Lancashire rivals Preston lie just two points behind Burnley and boast a superior goal difference.

Striker Steven Thompson has missed the Clarets' last seven games after sustaining ankle ligament damage against Nottingham Forest on March 14.

His recovery is progressing well but and Coyle must decide whether to gamble on Thompson`s fitness and hand a place among the substitutes.
