Midfield duo missing

Preston boss Alan Irvine will be without midfielder Lee Williamson and winger Ross Wallace for the pivotal final-day home clash with QPR.

On-loan Watford man Williamson is suspended following his red card in the 2-1 win at Birmingham last weekend.

He must serve a three-match ban after his appeal against his dismissal, following a tussle with Lee Bowyer who was also sent off, was rejected by the Football Association.

Wallace is similarly banned after he was also dismissed by referee Phil Dowd at Birmingham for taking his shirt off to celebrate his winning goal.

Barry Nicholson, who has been out of action since breaking a rib in the 2-1 victory over Coventry on March 4, is progressing well with his recovery and his potential return could prove perfect timing.

Callum Davidson may also come into contention along with Neal Trotman and Liam Chilvers but Richard Chaplow and Michael Hart remain sidelined through injury.
