Shackell blow for City

Sat 02 May, 11:49 AM

Norwich boss Bryan Gunn is set to be without defender Jason Shackell for the trip to face Charlton as the Canaries look for a miracle.

Shackell came off during Monday night's 2-0 defeat to Reading with a hamstring injury and he is unlikely to recover in time for the clash at the Valley where a win for the Canaries coupled with a defeat for Barnsley would see the club stay in the Championship.

Adrian Leijer replaced Shackell at Carrow Road on Monday and will start if required while Gunn will be hoping that Lee Croft is able to return.

Croft collected his player of the season award before the Reading defeat but was not involved thanks to a calf injury and is a doubt.

Striker David Mooney can come back in after being barred from facing his parent club Reading while Cody McDonald could keep his place up front after impressing against the Royals.

Defender Dejan Stefanovic (knee), winger Wes Hoolahan (ankle) and striker Carl Cort (foot) are all sidelined as the Canaries look to prevent relegation and their first season in the third tier since 1959/60.
