Carlin's Mikhail Aleshin claimed his second win of the season in the weekend's opening race in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series at Spa Francorchamps.
Starting from pole position, the Russian driver nevertheless had to fight hard to hold off Tech 1 Racing's Brendon Hartley until the latter was forced to retire.
Aleshin was joined on the podium by Fortec Motorsport's Sten Pentus and Comtec Racing's Stefano Coletti.
"We've had a perfect start to the season," said Aleshin.
"The competition has been intense and we've really had to fight, but it was an perfect day for Carlin and for me."
In the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 race, Arthur Pic led from start to finish to win ahead of Korainen Bros Racing's Kevin Korjus.
Korjus's second place saw him strengthen his lead in the overall points standings.
Epsilon Euskadi's Genis Olive finished third.
In the Eurocup Megane Trophy, the season's first race was cancelled.
Due to a technical problem observed in the starting grid lights at Spa Francorchamps, the race directors and stewards have decided to cancel the race.
