Peterborough director of football Barry fry insists the club will not be forced into selling England prospect Joe Lewis this summer.Lewis was an unused substitute in the 3-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday night to complete a remarkable rise since his £400,000 purchase from Norwich, but Fry insists that he - and other star players such as Aaron Mclean and George Boyd - are not for sale.
Fry said: "I was talking about players with the chairman Darragh MacAnthony recently and the interest in our star players came up. His reaction was to say that he couldn't live with himself if he accepted the first big bid he received for a player.
"He's thrilled that we've sold 3,200 season tickets and he would regard any sale of any player as a slap in the face to those loyal fans.
"There is a reason we have signed the majority of the squad on long contracts. We have a grand plan for success which involves keeping our better players at the club no matter who wants them.
"The players have to understand that they are on a journey with us now and to be fair none of them give us any problems. It's a very happy club because we share the same ambition on a boardroom, management and playing level."
