No mass exodus for relegated Royals

Mon 02 Jun, 04:30 PM

Director of football Nicky Hammond insists relegated Reading are under no pressure to sell their best players this summer. The Royals are gearing up for life in the Championship next term but that does not mean they have to balance the books.

"We've got players who are under contract, so if they are to go elsewhere it wouldn't only be their decision," Hammond told the club's official website.

"We have good players so there will be Premier League interest.

"The way the club has managed finances in the past, we're not under pressure to sell, it will have to be on our terms.

"We want to keep our best players, many of them were involved in winning promotion before. There will be changes, there will be some dealing, some will go and some will come in."
