Oubina refuses to go on Spurs trial

Mon 02 Jun, 06:15 PM

Celta Vigo midfielder Borja Oubina has confirmed he is wanted by Tottenham but warned the north London club he is not prepared to go on trial.Oubina says he is flattered to be linked with a move to Spurs but will not consider going on trial at White Hart Lane as he does not believe it would give him enough time to impress.

The 26-year-old joined Birmingham on a season-long loan last summer but he picked up a cruciate ligament injury in just his second game for the club and eventually returned to Celta in February.

The twice-capped Spain international is thought to be keen on a move to the Premoer League but he has urged Spurs to make a firm offer if they want to sign him this summer.

"It is true that Tottenham called my agent to tell him they wanted me, and offered the option of going on trial in late June or July," Oubina told Faro de Vigo.

"But from the outset I thought it was a surreal idea. My current contract is with Celta and I have nothing to prove to anybody.

"It flatters me that they think about me and have taken into account my situation and I understand that they want to see me before [buying], but I do not know that they can assess me because in five or ten days too many conclusions cannot be made."
