Hungary international Istvan Ferenczi wants to stay at Barnsley despite being told he can leave the club - and claims Nottingham Forest are interested in him.

The 30-year-old striker has attracted interest from home and abroad after being put on the transfer list at Oakwell.

But Ferenczi told Hungarian newspaper Pepsifoci: "Telling you the truth, the club wants to modify my contract and I'd earn less than before as they're unable to pay my full wages.

"I do like my present team and would like to stay, though I was told if a suitable offer comes in then the club would release me as this is the last time when they can get money for me.

"I've had an approach from Sweden and Nottingham Forest are also interested. If it's up to me then I'd choose Forest.

"I like the English football style and Nottingham is close to Barnsley so a move wouldn't be that difficult. But the most ideal thing would be to stay here."
