Nantes have parted company with coach Elie Baup after being relegated from Ligue 1.

Baup took over at Nantes last September but failed to help the eight-times French champions escape relegation for a second time in three years.

"Nantes and Elie Baup have decided not to carry on their collaboration," the club said in a statement.

The club were relegated for the first time since 1963 in 2007, before bouncing straight back to the top-flight under Michel Der Zakarian.

However, Der Zakarian made way last summer for the more established Baup, who won the league with Bordeaux in 1999.
