World Cup qual - Gerrard: 2010 my last chance

Steven Gerrard believes the 2010 World Cup could be his last chance to win football's most coveted prize.

The Liverpool captain will be 30 by the time Fabio Capello's side compete in South Africa next summer - assuming there are no last-gasp hiccups in their qualifying group - and Gerrard conceded that he may be past his prime by the time of the 2014 finals.

England already top their group and two more victories will put them on the verge of going through to the finals.

Gerrard said: "Will this be the last chance to qualify for a World Cup? I would say so. If we qualify, I'll be 30 when the finals come around.

"For me, it will be the last chance of doing well at a World Cup. Maybe by the time of the next one I might not be in my prime. That is a big motivation for me.

"We've now got these two important qualifiers coming up and if we want to play in the finals, we've got to get two good results."

    Should have gone to Chelsea when he had the­ chance. we tried to help you Gerrard, but being a thick­ scouser you could'nt see that.

  3. i hope england team under fabio capello will win the­ world cup 2010 because this england team is the most­ talent team for a long time i remember and they just­ need tobe put in the right puzzle though,but england­ must prove you are the best and that mean you must beat­ brasil,argentina,germany,spain,italy and­ france...because those teams are favorite and world­ champions!!!!!i would like to add holland and portugal­ on the list also!good luck english.....

  5. yeah last chance dude,.. coz u certainly will not win­ any major trophy with your current club,..i just hope­ torres would not do the same mistake as u,.. i hope­ after another trophy-less 09/10 season torres would­ leave to a real contender not was a contender in­ ancient history club
